About The Position

Torgeson Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Estimator to join its employee-owner team at its headquarters in Topeka, Kansas. The role assists with preparing accurate and timely estimates for electrical contracting projects and calls for attention to detail and strong analytical skills. The position is based full-time at the headquarters and may involve occasional travel to regional project sites or client meetings. The salary is competitive and relevant to experience.

Requirements

Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Understanding of electrical systems and components.
Experience with estimating software; Accubid and Bluebeam experience is preferred but not required.
A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for electrical contracting projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive bid proposals.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure estimates are accurate and complete.
Use estimating software to prepare and update estimates.
Conduct site visits as needed to gather information and verify project requirements.
Maintain an organized database of historical project costs and pricing data.
Assist with pre-bid meetings and site visits to better understand project scope and requirements.
Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing strategies.
