The Junior Engineering Project Coordinator is responsible for providing engineering and administrative support to assist in the coordination of projects between Design & Development Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering. This role supports the timely progression of engineering projects from development through prototype validation and into production readiness by helping manage engineering records, BOMs, routings, ECNs, project follow-up, and internal communication. The position is intended for an early-career individual who is developing practical knowledge of machining, manufacturing processes, ERP systems, engineering documentation, and cross-functional project coordination in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in an engineering, manufacturing, project coordination, or new product development environment.
  • Basic understanding of machining and manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of 3d modeling and engineering drawings.
  • Basic to intermediate SolidWorks knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Co-op, internship, or entry-level experience in a machining or manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
  • Exposure to BOMs, routings, and ERP / MRP systems would be an asset.
  • Basic understanding of engineering change processes and document control would be an asset.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordinating engineering projects from design release through prototype completion and production launch readiness.
  • Support the maintenance of project timelines, due dates, action lists, and follow-up activities.
  • Follow up with responsible team members to help ensure project tasks are completed on time.
  • Support project review meetings by preparing status updates, action items, and required documentation.
  • Escalate overdue items, missing information, or project delays to the Engineering Manager or assigned project lead.
  • Support communication and coordination between Design & Development Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality, Purchasing, and Production.
  • Help ensure relevant technical information is transferred accurately between teams, including drawings, part details, special notes, tooling requirements, and release status.
  • Attend drawing reviews, manufacturing reviews, and project meetings as required to support project flow and documentation accuracy.
  • Assist in organizing and tracking project information required for prototype and production readiness.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining part masters, bills of material, and routings in the ERP / MRP system.
  • Verify data accuracy for part descriptions, revision levels, materials, operation steps, and related engineering information before release.
  • Support setup of new parts and updates to existing parts as directed by Engineering or Manufacturing.
  • Help maintain accurate records for new project parts and engineering changes.
  • Assist in the coordination and tracking of Engineering Change Notices.
  • Assign ECNs in the system as directed and help monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Review ECN packages for completeness prior to closure.
  • Help ensure updated drawings, BOMs, routings, and associated documents reflect approved engineering changes.
  • Support filing and organization of ECN binders, project binders, and related engineering records.
  • Support activities required to move validated prototype projects into production lot manufacturing.
  • Assist in confirming that required documentation, BOMs, routings, and drawings are complete and current before release.
  • Help coordinate closure of project binders and release documentation for production use.
  • Assist in capturing and organizing prototype feedback, open items, and final release requirements using Narrative & DropDoc.
  • Maintain accurate engineering files, records, and reference libraries including drawings, manufacturing files, procedures, standards, and SolidWorks files.
  • Initiate or revise work instructions, checklists, and related support documents when requested.
  • Meet regularly with engineering and cross-functional teams to support project organization and progress.
  • Interface with suppliers and customers as required under the direction of the Engineering Manager or assigned engineer.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Wear all required PPE while in plant.
  • Work safely & ergonomically by following H&S policies.
  • Enforce and promote workplace safety.
  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents across the plant.
  • Be alert for hazards.
