About The Position

The Engineering Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the successful transition of new and revised products from design and prototype validation into production-ready manufacturing. This role serves as the key bridge between Design & Development Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers, ensuring technical information is transferred accurately, projects are progressed on time, ERP data is set up correctly, engineering changes are controlled effectively, and validated products are launched into production lot manufacturing in a timely and disciplined manner. The role combines engineering coordination, project execution, ERP / product data management, and manufacturing launch support to ensure efficient handoff from development to production.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an engineering, manufacturing, new product introduction, or project coordination role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining and manufacturing processes, including practical awareness of tolerances.
  • Solid working knowledge of engineering drawings, 3d models.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Experience creating and maintaining BOMs and routings in an ERP / MRP system.
  • Good understanding of ECN control, document revision practices, and production release processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a machining and manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with prototype-to-production transfer and engineering change implementation is preferred.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and controlled documentation practices is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering projects from concept release through prototype validation and final production launch.
  • Establish and maintain project timelines, due dates, action registers, and follow-up plans to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Track progress of open actions, deliverables, risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Production.
  • Support project review meetings and provide accurate status updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Escalate delays, missing information, or resource constraints that could impact project timing or launch readiness.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Design & Development Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure smooth project execution and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure manufacturing-critical information is reviewed and communicated effectively, including drawings, models, tolerances, materials, finishes, tooling, fixturing, work holding, purchased parts, special processes, and assembly requirements.
  • Participate in drawing reviews, manufacturing reviews, and design review meetings to help ensure manufacturability, accuracy, and completeness early in the project cycle.
  • Coordinate the transfer of information required by Quality, Purchasing, Production Planning, Assembly, and other internal departments.
  • Create, maintain, and update part masters, bills of material, routings, and related engineering records in the ERP / MRP system.
  • Ensure ERP data is accurate and aligned with the latest engineering revisions before release to production.
  • Support setup of new project parts, including manufacturing structure, operation sequence, purchased components, and routing logic.
  • Maintain project files, engineering documentation, and system data in an orderly and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) from initiation through implementation and closure.
  • Assign ECNs, establish due dates, follow up with responsible personnel, and ensure timely completion of all required actions.
  • Review ECNs for completeness and accuracy before closure.
  • Ensure ECN-related updates are reflected in drawings, BOMs, routings, standards, inspection sheets, manufacturing records, and production binders.
  • Support management of urgent ECNs that directly affect work orders, prototypes, or production readiness.
  • Support prototype builds and help coordinate activities required to move successfully validated products into production lot manufacturing.
  • Ensure lessons learned from prototype validation are captured and incorporated into final manufacturing release documentation using Narrative & DropDoc.
  • Coordinate launch readiness checks, including drawing release, BOM completion, routing completion, tooling readiness, inspection requirements, and document closure.
  • Assist in closing project binders and releasing completed projects into standard production processes.
  • Maintain accurate minutes of meetings during projects inception, engineering records and organize reference libraries including drawings, manufacturing files, test procedures, assembly procedures, standards, and SolidWorks files.
  • Initiate and/or revise standards, work instructions, and other relevant process documents.
  • Meet regularly with Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality, and other departments to ensure effective coordination of projects and engineering changes.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers as required in support of project execution.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Wear all required PPE while in plant.
  • Work safely & ergonomically by following H&S policies.
  • Enforce and promote workplace safety.
