Junior Electrical Engineer

Reflex RoboticsNew York, NY
$130,000 - $180,000

About The Position

Reflex Robotics is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to own well-scoped board designs and support the testing, manufacturing, and maintenance of electrical systems across their robots. This role involves designing, bringing up, debugging, and ensuring the reliable build of various electrical components such as teleoperation IMU boards, cable testers, adapter PCBs, or ToF sensor clusters. The engineer will also manage component libraries, supply chain details, work with PCB manufacturers, identify critical single-source components, and ensure the availability of necessary parts for robot production. The company emphasizes curiosity, ownership, and rapid learning, valuing engineers who demonstrate initiative through personal projects or team involvement.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience designing PCBs, through coursework, internships, team projects, or independent work.
  • Hands-on board bring-up, testing, debugging, and rework experience.
  • Comfortable using lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, and soldering/rework tools.
  • Ability to take a clearly defined electrical project from requirements through design, bring-up, and testing.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to own the less glamorous parts of hardware development, including documentation, component management, and manufacturing follow-through.
  • Ability to learn quickly, take feedback, and work effectively with more experienced engineers.
  • Good communication skills.
  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Portfolio of independent electronics, robotics, or embedded systems projects.
  • Experience on Formula SAE, solar car, robotics, rocketry, or a similar engineering team.
  • Proficiency in Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Basic firmware or software experience, particularly C/C++ or embedded systems.
  • Experience working with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors.
  • Familiarity with component sourcing, BOM management, and identifying supply chain risk.
  • Experience creating or maintaining schematic symbols, footprints, and component libraries.
  • Experience with sensors, IMUs, ToF sensors, communications interfaces, or embedded electronics.
  • Robotics experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own well-scoped board designs.
  • Support the testing, manufacturing, and maintenance of electrical systems across the robot.
  • Design teleoperation IMU boards, cable testers, adapter PCBs, or ToF sensor clusters.
  • Bring up, debug, and ensure reliable manufacturing of designed boards.
  • Manage component libraries and supply chain details.
  • Work with PCB manufacturers.
  • Identify critical single-source components.
  • Ensure availability of parts needed for robot production.

Benefits

  • Enormous upside for grabs.
  • Opportunity to help build a flagship robotics company from the ground up.
  • Do work that will truly matter, reshaping what people believe is possible in robotics.
