About The Position

The Junior Data Analyst/Developer will be a critical part of The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) Resilient Watersheds Strategy's Nature for Water Facility (N4W) Program Intelligence team. This role focuses on building and managing data collection, processing, and analysis pipelines to support local champions developing watershed investment programs. The Program Intelligence platform gathers and analyzes diverse information from partner programs to produce intelligence findings that enhance partner effectiveness and growth, and identify areas for maximizing long-term conservation impact. The position is flexible in location within registered TNC countries in North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe. Salary ranges will vary based on the candidate's location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field and one year of progressive experience.
  • Experience in relational database concepts and query tools such as SQL, and/or experience performing advanced data analysis/modeling in Excel.
  • Experience in a scripting language such as Python.
  • Experience with visualization or dashboarding tools (such as Power BI).
  • Experience writing and speaking in the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years working in business intelligence, data analytics, data engineering, or data science.
  • Experience balancing work across concurrent large and complex projects.
  • Experience combining and maintaining diverse datasets, as well as presenting analyses pulling from these datasets to cross-functional audiences.
  • Experience in project management planning and techniques, including elaborating clear work plans and managing deadlines.
  • Multi-language skills (in particular, Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring smooth alignment with, and integration of, data capture and storage systems, templates and procedures.
  • Building and managing data processing pipelines, primarily using Python code within Databricks, to update and analyse data.
  • Owning the building and updating of visualization suites using Power BI or similar software.
  • Helping troubleshoot bugs across the entire Program Intelligence platform, maintaining high levels of data quality, and adding or updating features for existing processes as required.
  • Thinking systematically across all the programs supported by the Program Intelligence Platform and identifying ways to streamline or improve upon the existing build.
