About The Position

Sheladia Associates, Inc. (Sheladia), a minority-owned business established in 1974, is an engineering and architecture firm supporting U.S. government, state and county projects, as well as U.S. funded international projects and multi-lateral donor bank and host-country funded projects. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Civil Engineer to join our growing team in Rockville, MD. As a Junior Civil Engineer, you will assist in the planning, design, and execution of various civil engineering projects, contributing to the development of sustainable infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution
• 0–4 years of experience in civil engineering projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD required
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Basic understanding of local building codes and regulations
• Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and environmental regulations

Nice To Haves

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and GIS software, along with experience in Revit, is preferred
• Experience with ENERCALC and STAAD - Pro is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data and assess project requirements
• Perform engineering calculations and analyze data to support project designs
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers on various aspects of civil, structural or related engineering projects
• Assist in the preparation of project reports, cost estimates, and technical documentation
• Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with team members and clients
• Support the development and implementation of quality control procedures
• Stay updated on local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies
