Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent education or experience)
  • Hands-on experience or strong exposure to materials testing (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt) in lab and/or field environments
  • Ability and willingness to work in dynamic conditions, including remote field sites, extended hours, and physically demanding environments
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and ability to travel to job sites as required
  • Working knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, CSA standards
  • Strong technical documentation skills with attention to detail in data collection, entry, and reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel) for data tracking and reporting
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently while contributing to project coordination and delivery

Nice To Haves

  • CCIL certifications or safety training (First Aid, WHMIS, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance) are strong assets

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality laboratory testing on soils, aggregates, and concrete (e.g., Proctor, gradation, hydrometer, Atterberg limits), ensuring compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, CSA, and CCIL standards
  • Support construction QA/QC through field testing, inspections, and supervision, including compaction testing and subgrade and concrete verification
  • Collaborate with contractors, clients, and WSP teams on active project sites to help ensure successful project execution
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret geotechnical data, contributing to accurate reporting and engineering decision-making
  • Monitor geotechnical instrumentation and support field programs that inform the performance of infrastructure systems
  • Maintain laboratory quality by calibrating equipment, supporting audits, and identifying and reporting non-conformances
  • Plan and coordinate testing activities while maintaining detailed records, notes, and documentation to certify work performed
  • Champion a strong safety culture by adhering to WSP health and safety policies in both lab and field environments
