About The Position

Performs regular custodial duties in a school or other public building and related work as required. The role involves cleaning and maintaining building surfaces, furnishings, equipment, and surrounding grounds; operating and caring for custodial equipment; and performing minor adjustments and repairs. Outside duties include using snow blowers and shoveling snow.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Knowledge of custodial methods, materials, equipment, and safety precautions.
• Knowledge of proper use of custodial supplies and cleaning techniques for various surfaces and equipment.
• Knowledge of building and grounds care and minor adjustments and repairs to building equipment.
• Knowledge of fire and accident prevention in public buildings, including the operation and care of hand fire extinguishers.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships.
• Physical fitness to perform a variety of manual tasks.
• Neat appearance and good moral character.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular custodial duties in a school or other public building.
• Use custodial supplies and appropriate cleaning techniques on floors, walls, toilet room equipment, furniture, and other building furnishings and equipment.
• Operate and care for custodial equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor machines, floor brushes, and sweeping mops.
• Care for buildings and appurtenances, including grounds, walks, lawns, and shrubbery.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs to furniture and building equipment, including plumbing, heating, and electrical fixtures.
• Follow fire and accident prevention practices and operate and care for hand fire extinguishers.
• Display the flag of the United States of America properly.
• Perform outside work, including using snow blowers and shoveling snow.
• Perform related work as required.
