About The Position

Support the day-to-day operations of Milestone's Probate Department by partnering with the Managing Attorney to ensure the efficient administration of probate matters, coordinate with external legal partners, and promote operational excellence across the department. Serve as a key legal resource by overseeing local counsel relationships, supporting team coordination, monitoring case progress, and helping drive the successful execution of departmental priorities.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law and member of a state bar in good standing.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience practicing probate law.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, or mentoring legal professionals or support staff.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and team workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of probate procedures, estate administration, and court processes across multiple jurisdictions preferred.
  • Experience in Mass Tort Law preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Managing Attorney to support the day-to-day operations and overall effectiveness of the Probate Department.
  • Provide operational oversight and guidance to probate team members, supporting efficient workflows, collaboration, and timely case progression.
  • Coordinate team workloads and case assignments to help ensure deadlines, quality standards, and departmental objectives are achieved.
  • Review probate matters for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws, court requirements, settlement agreements, and internal policies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for probate and bankruptcy counsel across multiple jurisdictions, fostering strong working relationships and effective communication.
  • Coordinate the assignment of probate matters to external counsel and monitor case activity to promote timely, high-quality legal services.
  • Monitor the performance and responsiveness of third-party probate counsel, identifying trends, opportunities for improvement, and operational concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Attorney on probate strategies, legal issue resolution, and departmental initiatives.
  • Review project and case status reports to identify workflow bottlenecks, improve operational efficiency, and support continuous process improvement.
  • Prepare operational reports, case updates, and departmental metrics for leadership.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support probate-related initiatives and ensure seamless case administration.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and refinement of departmental procedures, workflows, and training materials.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound legal judgment when handling sensitive claimant and estate information.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external communications while effectively managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform additional legal and operational responsibilities as assigned.
