About The Position

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Junior Application Engineer to support a major national laboratory. The successful candidate shall be proficient in custom computer programming, commercial-off-the-shelf application configuration and customization, report development, dev-ops, scripting, and testing. This role involves providing technical support to clients, testing applications, maintaining hardware, and responding to customer requests. The Application Engineer will also analyze complex system requirements, design software tools and subsystems, and manage software development and support processes. The candidate will gather functional requirements, document processes, and could start learning some application development.

Requirements

AS/AA in relevant discipline plus minimum 2 years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
US Citizenship is Required
Candidate must reside in the Albuquerque area as work is performed onsite.
Experience troubleshooting hardware IT issues
Experience gathering IT requirements
Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements
Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Experience troubleshooting desktop applications
Process documentation and technical writing
Analytical and critical-thinking skill
Basic understanding of software architecture concepts

Nice To Haves

.Net development experience
SQL experience

Responsibilities

Assist in enhancing the overall functionality of software by improving software architecture, supporting existing software, and engineering hardware components that optimize various technologies.
Provide technical support to clients.
