About The Position

The Junior Accountant assists the CFO and VP of Finance in their fiduciary role of preserving all the assets, tangible and intangible, and finances of the Health Center and the reporting of them to all responsible parties on a timely basis and according to all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position functions independently with minimal supervision and plans, coordinates and carries out those tasks necessary to meet the job responsibilities. Specific Duties: The Junior Accountant assists the Sr. Accountant and the VP of Finance in the monthly closing process. This process includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: · Help manage grants and contracts (including budgets, accounting and reporting) · Participate in meetings surrounding grant and contract administration · Aid in preparation of financial portions of the annual UDS report · Produce general Ledger reporting, as needed · Assist in annual year-end audit, and applicable site audits · Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting schedules as needed · Prepare and update monthly reconciliations for various balance sheet and income statement accounts on a monthly basis, and in a timely manner · Manage pre-paid insurance and expense accounts · Aid in maintaining the FSA benefit reconciliation · Assist Sr Accountant with matching Purchase orders with receipts · Perform all other job-related duties that may be assigned. · Demonstrate understanding and commitment of the health center mission · Demonstrates understanding and commitment to the established CHC values and standards

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree (from an accredited institution), major in Business Administration, or Accounting required.
  • Prior experience helpful, but not required
  • Prior experience in healthcare helpful
  • Advanced computer skills. Strong Excel spreadsheet and database management skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience in administrative policies and practices.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision, and to plan, coordinate and carry out those tasks necessary to meet the job responsibilities.
  • Team player with ability to deal with sensitive information in a highly confidential manner.
  • Proactive and analytical problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in reading and writing in English
  • Accounting knowledge, skills, education and experience.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Familiarity with business software computer programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Customer service and interpersonal skills.
