The Provost Office at Ithaca College, in partnership with the Department of Sociology, invites applicants for the pre-doctoral Julian Euell Future Faculty Fellowship (JEFFF) for academic year 2027–2028. The fellowship is for advanced doctoral candidates with expertise in the sociology of race and ethnicity, sociology of mental health, political sociology, or urban and rural sociology. It provides teaching experience and mentorship while fellows complete their dissertations. During the one-year fellowship, fellows teach one course per semester, participate in scholarly forums, develop pedagogical skills, and receive professional development to prepare for academic careers. The fellowship is non-renewable and runs from August 16, 2027, through May 31, 2028. Fellows receive a $43,260 stipend, $5,000 in travel and professional development support, relocation reimbursement, office space, health benefits, access to Ithaca College and Cornell University libraries, and a dedicated faculty mentor in their program. Applicants must be enrolled in a Ph.D.-granting program at an accredited U.S. institution, demonstrate commitment to a college- or university-level teaching career and equitable classroom practices, show evidence of a scholarly agenda, and be authorized to work in the United States. Before August 15, 2027, applicants must have advanced to candidacy and have an approved dissertation proposal. Preference is given to candidates in the final year of dissertation writing who are actively drafting and revising their dissertations. Candidates demonstrating commitment to minoritized communities through teaching, service, and/or research are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications should include an unofficial transcript, a cover letter addressing teaching pedagogy and career interest, research agenda and dissertation completion timeline, and contribution to the chosen department's curriculum; a CV; a proposed course syllabus; and contact information for two references. For full consideration, applications should be received by November 15, 2026. Applications are not complete until all materials are submitted. Visa sponsorship is not provided. The position is a full-time, limited-term, non-tenured and non-tenure-track faculty teaching appointment at Ithaca College's Ithaca, New York campus. Successful candidates must meet with union leadership before their first day. Employment offers are contingent on review of a criminal background check.
