The Provost Office at Ithaca College, in partnership with the Department of Philosophy and Religion, seeks a pre-doctoral Julian Euell Future Faculty Fellow for academic year 2027–2028. The fellow’s research should provide a foundation for teaching about Islam and/or Judaism. Candidates in Religious Studies are particularly sought, though candidates in affiliated fields—including Islamic Studies, Jewish Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, African religions, and Chinese religions—will also be considered. The college especially welcomes candidates attentive to how race, gender, and politics figure in global religious contexts. The one-year, non-renewable fellowship provides advanced doctoral candidates with teaching experience and mentorship while they complete their dissertations. Fellows teach one course per semester, participate in scholarly forums, develop pedagogical skills, and receive professional development in preparation for academic careers. The fellowship runs from August 16, 2027, through May 31, 2028. Fellows receive a $43,260 stipend, $5,000 for travel and professional development, relocation reimbursement, office space, health benefits, access to Ithaca College and Cornell University libraries, and a dedicated faculty mentor in their program. Applicants must be enrolled in a Ph.D.-granting program at an accredited U.S. institution, be authorized to work in the United States, and demonstrate commitment to college- or university-level teaching, equitable classroom practices, and a scholarly agenda. Before August 15, 2027, applicants must have advanced to candidacy and have an approved dissertation proposal. Preference will be given to candidates in the final year of dissertation writing who are actively drafting and revising. Candidates who have demonstrated commitment to minoritized communities through teaching, service, and/or research are strongly encouraged to apply. Visa sponsorship is not provided. Applications should include an unofficial transcript, a cover letter addressing teaching pedagogy and career interest, research agenda and dissertation timeline, and contribution to the chosen department’s curriculum; a CV; a proposed course syllabus; and contact information for two references. Applications should be received by November 15, 2026, for full consideration, and are incomplete until all materials have been submitted. The position is a full-time, non-tenure-track limited-term faculty appointment at Ithaca College’s Ithaca, New York campus. Bargaining-unit faculty are covered by the collective bargaining agreement between Ithaca College and SEIU Local 200 United. Successful candidates must meet with union leadership before their first day. Employment offers are contingent on review of a criminal background check.
