About The Position

The New Jersey Judiciary, Burlington Vicinage, is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to serve as a Judge's Secretary 1 to a Superior Court Judge in the Family Division. The selected candidate will have a key role in supporting the efficient operation of chambers by preparing and proofreading court orders and legal documents, managing the judge's schedule and workflow, coordinating communications with attorneys, court staff, and the public, and maintaining accurate court records. Requirements

  • Three (3) years of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: preparing and analyzing legal documents, processing legal or other documents, transcribing information, and scheduling meetings or appointments.
  • Ability to use a keyboard, no minimum speed.

Responsibilities

  • Transcribe dictation and prepare, proofread, and distribute judges' orders and decisions.
  • Compose and type routine and non-routine correspondence, including contracts, legal documents, form letters, and standard replies to inquiries.
  • Coordinate and communicate the judge's schedule with division administration and case management personnel.
  • Prepare, file and submit records and written documents.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communications and workflow, including mail, telephone calls, conference calls, and inquiries from attorneys, staff, and the public.
  • Operate a computer terminal or personal computer to enter data into Judiciary-wide systems.
  • Moderate virtual court events.
  • Regulate the flow of work in accordance with operating schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
