About The Position

The Junior Application Developer helps design, build, and support applications used in healthcare, revenue cycle, and internal operational workflows. Working closely with the Director of Technology Delivery & Innovation, senior developers, IT Operations, Data Management, Architecture, and business stakeholders, the developer learns the codebase and contributes to solutions from concept through production. This is a hands-on, growth-oriented role on a small team, with mentorship from senior developers and technical leadership. The organization operates a hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructure that is evolving toward faster iteration, simpler processes, and greater use of AI in delivery workflows. The successful candidate will maintain existing systems while developing skills to help modernize them, adhering to integration, security, data governance, and compliance standards. The technical environment includes a Microsoft-centric enterprise estate using MSSQL, .NET/C#, and related tooling, as well as a modern cloud-native stack using JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, cloud services on AWS, Azure, or GCP, REST APIs, JSON/XML interfaces, and container-based deployments. Candidates need familiarity with both environments, hands-on experience with at least one through coursework, internships, or personal projects, and willingness to learn the other. The position is primarily remote and requires alignment with the Eastern Time Zone. Atlanta-based candidates are strongly preferred. The role involves close collaboration across engineering, data, product, business, and clinical teams in a supportive, fast-paced environment focused on adaptability, continuous learning, and working effectively in a regulated industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 0–2 years of experience delivering software in a professional, academic, or internship setting.
  • Some hands-on experience building automation solutions; coursework, internships, or personal projects are acceptable.
  • Experience building backend or full-stack applications in .NET/C# on MSSQL or JavaScript/TypeScript on a modern database, and willingness to learn both environments.
  • Exposure to Python, SQL, and REST APIs or JSON/XML integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and container-based or cloud-native deployments.
  • Interest in learning to design and support system integrations and external vendor interfaces.
  • Understanding of networking and security fundamentals, including TCP/IP, SSL, SSH, and SFTP.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and transactions, including HL7 and X12 5010.
  • Fluency with version control using Git and comfort with pull-request-based review workflows.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to align with the Eastern Time Zone.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) or adjacent domains.

  • Coursework, internship, or project experience building applications that support analytics, automation, or AI-driven workflows.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Tabnine, or Claude Code.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Jira.
  • Exposure to startup or high-growth environments within a larger enterprise context.
  • Atlanta-based candidates are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior developers to translate requirements into technical tasks and shipped features.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions across engineering, data, and business teams, considering simplicity and long-term maintainability.
  • Partner with IT Operations, Data Management, and Architecture to understand integration contracts, security standards, and data governance decisions.
  • Support application lifecycle needs, including performance, security, reliability, compliance, and long-term supportability.
  • Identify automation opportunities and help implement solutions that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
  • Use AI-assisted development and automation techniques to improve delivery speed and outcomes.
  • Assist in building internal tools and workflows that improve operational efficiency and support AI-enabled decision-making.
  • Help evaluate and improve processes for scalability without adding operational overhead.
  • Help design and maintain secure integrations with vendors, partners, and internal systems, including APIs, background jobs, and data pipelines.
  • Support healthcare data exchange using HL7, X12 5010, FHIR, and eligibility workflows.
  • Work with IT Operations and Data Management to align application outputs with ELT pipelines, Medallion architecture standards (Bronze, Silver, and Gold), and analytics and reporting needs.
  • Support data interfaces, including imports, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance across hybrid environments.
  • Write clear, correct code and participate in code reviews to support maintainability.
  • Help develop and validate test cases for high-quality releases.
  • Debug and help resolve issues across application, integration, and data layers with support from senior team members.
