About The Position

McCain Foods is seeking an Industrial Millwright Mechanic for their Carberry, Manitoba facility. This role involves working with maintenance supervisors, teams, and other trade groups to enhance reliability, maintain a safe environment, and drive continuous improvement. The goal is to ensure efficiency and reduce downtime through preventive/predictive maintenance, timely repairs, and inspections in a fast-paced setting. The successful candidate will inspect, disassemble, reassemble, install, adjust, and maintain mechanical equipment on-site, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and perform proactive pre-use inspections of tools and equipment. They will also read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and operation & maintenance manuals, work effectively independently or as part of a team to meet customer needs within required timelines without compromising safety, and complete site-specific documentation, permits, and customer paperwork. Additionally, the role includes developing inspection reports, participating in project kick-offs, interfacing with customers, ensuring personal and others' safety, complying with safety procedures and legal obligations, recognizing, reporting, and resolving hazards, intervening in unsafe practices, and promoting a zero-harm culture. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Grade 12 education.
  • Hold a Red Seal Millwright trade ticket.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and work ethic.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems including but not limited to pumps, bearings, gearboxes, motors, alignments, lubrication, and vibration analysis.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work individually as well as a team environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and a keen sense of urgency in a safe environment.
  • Must be able to maintain accurate record keeping- data entry.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous relatable industrial experience, especially within a good manufacturing environment, would be considered an asset, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, disassemble, reassemble, install, adjust and maintain mechanical equipment on site.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues to identify problem and resolve.
  • Proactive pre-use inspection of tools and equipment.
  • Read and understand technical drawings, blueprints and operation & maintenance manuals.
  • Work well as part of a team or on own to ensure customers needs are met in the required timeline without compromising safety.
  • Complete site-specific documentation permits and other customer paperwork.
  • Develop inspection reports documenting inspection data and findings.
  • Participate and coordinate site project kick-offs where required.
  • Interface with the customer and provide professional and courteous feedback in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the safety of self and others.
  • Comply with company safety procedures and legal obligations.
  • Recognize, report and resolve all hazards.
  • Intervene where unsafe practices are identified.
  • Promote a zero-harm culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.
