About The Position

Reporting to the Maintenance General Foreman, the Journeyperson Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring that all electrical work is completed to high standards and in compliance with relevant codes and regulations.

Requirements

  • Certificate of qualification as an Industrial (442A) or Construction & Maintenance Electrician (309A)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in an industrial environment.
  • MTCU Basic Mill Process Operator Common Core.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, testing equipment, and electrical diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and safe electrical work practices.
  • Ability to identify hazards and implement proper lockout/tagout and other safety procedures.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Valid Ontario G driver's license.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and stakeholders.
  • Physical capability to work in all environments, including confined spaces, and at heights, while lifting and handling equipment over 50 lbs.
  • Adaptability to challenging conditions, including temperature extremeness, noise and environmental factors.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and use appropriate sections of the current Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to carry out assigned tasks.
  • Unlicensed millwrights are encouraged to apply if they meet the experience requirements.
  • Use test equipment to evaluate new, repaired, in-service and stored equipment using manufacturers’ recommendations and safety precautions.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical systems and replace faulty parts as required.
  • Perform periodic tasks and inspections of equipment and systems to observe operating conditions and determine what is needed for repair or adjustments.
  • Execute preventative maintenance activities including repairs to all mill equipment in a timely manner.
  • Work in a safe productive manner to maximize quality, efficiency and availability while minimizing maintenance cost and unscheduled downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the area of responsibility.
  • Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
