About The Position

Arcticom, LLC provides network and systems administration, enterprise architecture and resource planning, certification and accreditation, software design, programming, maintenance of telecommunications and land mobile radio equipment and systems, help desk support and IT transformation services among other services. The Journeyman Software Engineer will analyze existing code base and software repositories for deficiencies and errors. This role involves working with a distributed remote team and collaborating primarily online. The engineer will conduct code reviews, suggest improvements, and work with architects, analysts, and other developers in software design and documentation sessions. Responsibilities include reporting on system and project status, resolving design and build issues, troubleshooting bugs, and ensuring successful implementations. The role also involves playing an active part in joint solutions design, advocating for long-term quality, and reviewing processes for software quality and data accuracy. A key responsibility is developing, maintaining, and supporting a complex code base for DoD customer efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 4-7 years’ Software Development / Engineering experience.
• Must have or be able to obtain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and/or National Security Clearance; requires US Citizenship
• Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Familiar with secure coding standards and processes, including OWASP, code scans, and other processes.
• Experience in developing and maintaining applications built on Java, Oracle, and/or other related platforms.
• Experience in container-based computing technologies, including Docker or Kubernetes, and the management of containers in various environments.
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication and decision-making skills.
• Strong analytic, problem solving, negotiation, issue resolution and facilitation skills.
• Experience in writing and maintaining complex SQL queries, data structures, and other database-related functions.

Nice To Haves

• Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) is a plus and will be considered favorably.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing code base and software repositories for deficiencies and errors.

• Work with architects, analysts and other developers in software design and documentation sessions.
• Report on status of systems and projects on a regular and timely basis.
• Resolve difficult design and build issues and troubleshoot bugs, working closely with the test team and requirements managers to ensure successful implementations.
• Play an active role in joint solutions design and be an advocate for long term quality in the processes.
• Reviews processes and procedures for software quality and data accuracy.
• Develop, maintain, and support a complex code base for our DoD customer efforts.
