Journeyman Shop Technician / Mechanic
About The Position
Pape’ Machinery, Inc.’s Construction & Forestry Division is seeking a Journeyman Shop Technician to work on construction and forestry equipment in its Fremont, California shop. The technician ensures repairs are completed accurately and on time to support customers and maximize equipment uptime. As a journeyman, the role handles challenging jobs while working alongside other trained technicians in a well-resourced shop. Pape’ offers training, resources, mentoring, opportunities for continued learning and advancement, compensation of $54.16 per hour, and benefits including healthcare and a pension. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience diagnosing and repairing all makes and models of new and used heavy equipment.
- Team-oriented personality and the focus and drive to work without direct supervision.
- Discipline and skill to complete a technical diagnostic and repair training program.
- Must provide own tools.
- Ability to operate a lift truck and other heavy equipment; training will be provided.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair new and used heavy equipment of all makes and models.
- Complete shop repairs accurately and in a timely manner to support customers and maximize equipment uptime.
- Handle difficult repair jobs as a journeyman technician.
- Work alongside other trained technicians in the shop.
