About The Position

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is seeking an experienced Journeyman Plumber to join their Construction Division. This field-based position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems on commercial construction projects. The Journeyman Plumber will work closely with supervisors, project managers, and other trades to complete installations safely, accurately, and according to schedule. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial plumbing experience, knowledge of applicable codes, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship, safety, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Valid Journeyman Plumber license
  • Minimum 4 years of plumbing experience in a commercial construction environment
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, regulations, and industry practices
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications
  • Proficiency with plumbing tools, equipment, and installation methods
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a field crew
  • Dependability and a strong commitment to jobsite safety
  • Ability to travel to assigned commercial project sites

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain commercial plumbing systems
  • Install piping, fixtures, valves, supports, and related equipment
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and install piping using approved tools and methods
  • Lay out plumbing systems according to project drawings and specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical documents
  • Coordinate installation activities with supervisors and other trades
  • Complete assigned work according to project schedules and quality expectations
  • Inspect completed systems for proper installation and operation
  • Verify work complies with applicable plumbing codes and project requirements
  • Identify plumbing issues and complete necessary repairs or adjustments
  • Communicate material needs, design conflicts, and field concerns promptly
  • Help resolve installation challenges while minimizing project delays
  • Follow VMG safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements
  • Use tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment properly
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Protect installed materials and completed work from damage
  • Maintain VMG's standards for workmanship, professionalism, and customer service
