About The Position

Penington Painting Company is building a crew for a large-scale new construction project in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The scope is simple and the quantity is enormous: more than one million square feet of drywall, plus exposed structure, steel columns, bollards, and hollow metal doors and frames. It is all painting. No taping, no finishing, no floor systems, and almost no exterior work. If you want a long run of production spray work with a steady paycheck, this is it. The project is expected to last 10 to 12 months.

Requirements

  • Journeyman painter able to be dispatched through IUPAT District Council 36, Local Union 823.
  • Strong airless spray production experience.
  • OSHA 10 with the certificate in hand.
  • Aerial lift certification covering boom and scissor lifts.
  • Able to clear a fit for duty exam.
  • Able to pass a ten panel drug screen before orientation, and a background check.
  • Able to commit to 10 to 12 months on this project, out of town or locally if you are from New Mexico.
  • Able to work productively with limited direct supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Commercial wall covering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Airless spray production.
  • Working from scissor lifts.
  • Overhead dryfall spray on exposed structure, in corridors and electrical rooms.
  • Cut and roll finish work in corridors, administrative areas, and rooms with ceilings.
  • Pre-catalyzed epoxy on hollow metal doors and frames.
  • Masking and floor protection.
  • Spotting for lift work and material deliveries.

Benefits

  • $31.00 per hour. $26.00 Local 823 industrial journeyman scale plus a $5.00 per hour project incentive.
