Requirements

  • Requires six (6) years of CNC and manual machine shop experience after a recognized machining apprenticeship and/or equivalent
  • High School/Trade School or equivalent
  • Must have a working knowledge of programming languages to be able to develop and execute complex setups.
  • Utilizes machine shop mathematics such as, but not limited to, trigonometry, geometry and must have a working knowledge of the correct usage of calibration standards.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions and environmental/physical considerations per Employee Requisition
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Should have a working knowledge of duplicators and boring mills, multi-axis CNC machinery.
  • Must possess knowledge of geometric tolerances and true position dimensioning per ANSI-Y14.5.
  • Certification of ability to perform to the above is required and must be obtained from the quality assurance control center.

Responsibilities

  • Plans sequence of operations and methods used to fabricate component parts using CNC and manually controlled machine tools.
  • Determines the proper methods and procedures to perform the fabrication of various types of tooling and dies in the fabrication of various parts and assemblies.
  • Sets up completely and independently CNC controlled machines to perform most operations within the machines capacity.
  • Performs the mechanical functions as required to assemble mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Requires the ability to use any machines tool, manual and CNC controlled machine tools and any machine shop equipment such as, but not limited to lathes, mills, shapers, drill presses, radial drills, grinders, etc.
  • Performs precision assembly as required.
  • Executes varied and complex setups; the operation of manual and computer controlled machines.
  • Utilizes knowledge of programming languages to develop and execute CNC programs.
  • Performs breakdown maintenance to include diagnostics and may include “factory trained” level of repair.
  • Can operate coordinate axis measuring machines such as, but not limited to, Cordex, Leitz, etc.
  • Performs routine maintenance such as, but not limited to oiling, greasing, belt changing.
  • Fulfills housekeeping requirements.
  • Utilizes standard precision measuring instruments of the trade.
  • Designs, fabricates and selects appropriate tools in the completion of the work assignments.
  • Will be expected to perform quality inspection and acceptance tasks.
  • Must demonstrate compliance to sound safety and environmental procedures.
  • Will be required to maintain hazardous waste records.
  • May be required to train team members and new employees.
  • Participates in team meetings and activities.
  • Performs related and incidental work assignments as required in the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to follow exacting written and verbal instructions.
