This role involves repairing machinery, mechanical, and electrical equipment. The Journeyman - Machinery Maintenance Mechanic will examine machines and equipment to diagnose and fix issues, often using hand tools for repairs. This includes replacing parts, ordering replacements from machine shops, and reassembling machines with necessary adjustments. The position also requires conversing with operators to understand equipment problems, testing faulty equipment, and using knowledge of electronic systems to diagnose malfunctions. Responsibilities include replacing defective components, aligning and calibrating equipment, maintaining repair records, and entering information into computers for program copying or schematic storage. The role also involves reading blueprints and diagrams, assembling components, routing cables, installing various electrical parts, and testing units to ensure proper operation. Additionally, the mechanic will install and test electrical lines and circuits in military shelters and vans, troubleshoot and replace electrical components, and fabricate electrical boxes as needed. Participation in team repairs and installations, both in-house and on TDY assignments, is expected. All other position-related duties as assigned or requested are also part of the role.
