About The Position

Tenneco Powertrain (previously Federal-Mogul) has rewarding opportunities for a Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic at our Greenville, MI facility. This position provides mechanical support for the plant machinery and equipment. The Greenville facility has been in operation for over 80 years as a leading supplier of bearings, bushings, and washers to the automotive and industrial markets.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to be licensed and drive a powered industrial truck.
  • Ability to work any shift (7 am - 3 pm; 3 pm - 11 pm; 11 pm - 7 am)
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • 8 years of experience or a journeyman's card
  • Blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge and use of precision gauging equipment.
  • Knowledge of machine tool operation, and machine design.
  • Ability to do basic math.
  • Ability to work in a team or individual environment.
  • Ability to perform work at heights.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and adhere to all lead regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred
  • Allen Bradley hardware/software experience preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical problems.
  • Fabricates sheet metal parts and safety guards for equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Moves, aligns, levels, and installs machinery.
  • Builds, installs, and maintains electrical system and equipment for plant.
  • Responsible for the startup and shutdown of specific plant machines and equipment.
  • Understands and operates according to ISO/IATF work instructions for area.
  • Participate in process improvement.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the department in order to facilitate a neat, safe, and orderly work environment.
  • Has the responsibility and authority to prevent non-conformances relating to product, process, and quality systems including stopping production when suspect product is being run. Job specific authority and responsibilities for quality are defined in the work instructions for that job/department.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by a supervisor. Assist management as appropriate, to ensure all environmental and safety regulations as well as best practices are met and/or exceeded. Ensure the proper segregation and labeling of all waste products and recyclables and ensure waste minimization is practiced wherever possible. Adhere to all plant safety rules.
  • Perform other assignments as directed by a management representative.
