This role involves connecting, rearranging, repairing, and maintaining outside cable to ensure good service. Responsibilities include placing aerial/buried telephone cable (copper and fiber), working efficiently from a bucket truck, and connecting wires and cables to terminals. The position also entails performing aerial tasks such as new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and lashing. Construction work like digging holes and placing cable, air pipe, and inner duct in various conduit systems and open excavations is also part of the job. The lineman will climb utility poles and/or use an aerial lift truck to place cables according to system design, ensuring all work adheres to quality and safety standards, including OSHA regulations. Restoring the work area to project requirements and understanding field prints to determine work scope and identify potential issues are key duties. The role requires reporting project progress and material needs to the Foreman to avoid delays. Additionally, the lineman must work professionally on customer property and be responsible for all vehicles and equipment in their control.
