This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all industrial and automotive fleet equipment. The role involves performing repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of City fleet equipment, including heavy-duty construction equipment, heavy and light trucks, transit buses, fire trucks, turf, and small engines. The mechanic will also perform Highway Traffic Board Safety Inspections and related repairs, assist in determining and ordering necessary parts and materials, and provide guidance to staff on maintenance and repair. Additionally, the position supports the Fleet Committee with planning for equipment repair or replacement and ensures adherence to all O.H.S. Regulations, company safety policies, and standard operating procedures. The role requires prompt and accurate completion of work orders, time sheets, and other reports, and participation in a weekend on-call rotation and availability for occasional after-hours emergencies.
