About The Position

We are looking for a skilled Journeyman Electrician (309A) to join our growing Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team supporting commercial and utility‑scale solar projects across the GTA. This role is ideal for an electrician with hands-on solar experience who takes pride in safety, technical excellence and keeping systems performing at their best. As a Solar Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining solar PV systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with Ontario regulations. You will also provide on-site leadership, technical expertise, and support for installation and service crews. Please note, this is a Unionized position. The Journeyman Electrician will be a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 353.

Requirements

  • Valid 309A Electrician License.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in commercial or utility‑scale solar O&M.
  • Strong understanding of solar PV systems, inverters, and grid connections.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Familiarity with ESA codes and the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).
  • Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in varying field conditions.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple sites across the GTA.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must have insulated (1000V-rated) hand tools and safety boots.
  • Strong written communication skills for reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise job sites for installation, service, and O&M activities on photovoltaic systems of various sizes.
  • Provide technical guidance to 3–5-person installation or maintenance crews.
  • Install PV systems according to drawings, schematics, codes, and industry standards.
  • Program, configure, and adjust inverters and control systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and communication issues in PV systems, inverters, and related equipment.
  • Conduct system shutdowns and perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures safely.
  • Measure and analyze system performance to assess equipment condition.
  • Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and documentation.
  • Communicate job status and system performance updates to the management team.
  • Coordinate with the O&M team to minimize system downtime.
  • Always promote and enforce safe working practices.
