About The Position

This role involves the efficient, correct, and safe disassembly and assembly of major machine components, with some technical assistance required. The technician will qualify parts for reusability, order parts using specified systems with minimal assistance, and utilize various Caterpillar technical information resources to address technical issues. A key responsibility is writing detailed and accurate service reports for each component repair, adhering to all printed procedures. The position also requires assisting other technicians, handling customer inquiries professionally, and upholding customer care standards. Safety is paramount, and the technician must actively advocate for and adhere to all applicable safety policies and procedures. Additionally, the role may involve training and supporting the company's strategic programs, projects, and initiatives, while working within and promoting the corporate vision, mission, and values. Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Increasing specialization and ability to repair or recondition Caterpillar major components.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office recommended.
  • Ability to learn and use computer systems (ET, STW, Parts Integration, SIS Web).
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Consistent attendance and timeliness.
  • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice.
  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Associate Degree from an accredited vocational school preferred or comparable work experience required.
  • Two or three year’s minimum experience working on heavy equipment in a Caterpillar or similar environment with component rebuild experience preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

Responsibilities

  • Disassembles and assembles major machine components efficiently, correctly and safely with some technical assistance.
  • Qualifies all parts for reusability with some technical assistance.
  • Looks up and orders parts utilizing SIS, TMI with little or no assistance.
  • Uses Cat technical information, including: service manuals, operations manuals, SIS Web, TMI, SIMSI and STW to address technical issues.
  • Writes detailed and accurate service reports for every component repair.
  • Performs all required tasks in accordance with printed procedures.
  • Assists other technicians as needed.
  • Handles all customer inquiries in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Adheres to all customer care standards.
  • Actively cares and advocates safety at Western States. Adheres to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • May accomplish training and serve as a team member in support of Western States’ strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Work within and promote corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
