About The Position

The primary function of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, rebuild hydraulic cylinder parts, and restore equipment to proper operation at an expert level. This role involves a comprehensive understanding of various equipment systems and the ability to perform detailed repairs and maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED.
  • Six years of Cat equipment experience.
  • Fully understands all equipment systems (i.e. engines, hydraulics, electrical, sub-electrical, transmissions, etc.) for almost all equipment model lines.
  • Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb beside, onto, and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs.
  • Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
  • Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 50 pounds, as well as use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
  • Must be able to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
  • Must have cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems.
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild hydraulic cylinder parts.
  • Restore equipment to proper operation at an expert level.
  • Review work schedules, check equipment and supplies, and comply with PPE requirements.
  • Use pallet jacks, lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to move parts for repair.
  • Install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment.
  • Pressure wash and repaint parts/equipment.
  • Use miscellaneous resources and computers to reference parts, get information, and enter data into record systems.
  • Disassemble and reassemble parts or equipment using tools.
  • Clean parts with rags, cleaners, and power washers.
  • Use test equipment to make diagnostic checks.
  • Control powered equipment or tools to make repairs.
  • Use overhead hoists, lift devices, forklifts, and other aids to move items for disassembly, repair, and reassembly.
  • Use powered equipment for grinding, honing, boring, drilling, and polishing.
  • Make replacement parts or refurbish parts before re-assembly.
  • Reassemble and test units, and paint finished units.
  • Write repair activities on customer work orders.
  • Promote excellent customer service and/or training on work assignments.
