About The Position

This full-time, permanent Journalist position is an existing vacancy, located remotely in or near Huron County, ON. The role involves working with others in the Exeter Lakeshore Times Advance and Goderich Signal-Star newsrooms. The ideal candidate is an enterprising self-starter and team player who can identify stories that resonate with Huron County's diverse readership. Key aspects include cultivating sources, finding interesting community-focused stories, and writing in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.

Requirements

• A university degree, college diploma or equivalent real-world experience in journalism.
• Flexibility to write effectively in breaking news, features and short form is essential.
• A keen interest in community journalism is critical to the role.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in photography is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Reporting and writing stories for print, web and mobile audiences – as well as tailoring content to meet the varying needs of those platforms.
• Initiating and developing ideas for daily coverage, enterprise stories and investigative projects.
• Cultivating sources and establishing expertise to provide a broad range of stories that reflect Huron County.
• Taking photographs to illustrate local events and complement news stories
