About The Position
This is a full-time apprenticeship opportunity that offers hands-on experience and leads to an Apprenticeship Certification. The program is designed for individuals who love working with engines, technology, and machinery and are looking for a career. C & B Operations, with 38 John Deere dealership locations across 6 states, aims to train individuals to become certified John Deere experts. The program involves working full-time in a shop under experienced technicians, traveling to Mitchell, South Dakota for one week each month for in-class instruction and hands-on learning (with travel, food, lodging, and class expenses paid), and then returning to the shop to apply learned skills. The duration of the program is 2-3 years, depending on prior mechanic experience. The company also offers tool packages of $3,000 and $7,500, which become the property of the employee after 3 years of service. Participants earn money while gaining work experience and working towards their John Deere Apprenticeship Certification.
Requirements
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in equipment
- Ability to work full-time
- Valid driver’s license
Nice To Haves
- Prior mechanic experience (reduces program length to 2 years)
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on John Deere agricultural equipment
- Work with diesel engines, hydraulics, electronics, and precision ag technology
- Use advanced diagnostic tools and software
- Complete digital service documentation
- Learn professional shop procedures and safety practices
- Work alongside experienced technicians who mentor and train
