About The Position

This is a full-time position where the Job Coach will work directly with individuals, families, case managers, Independent Support Coordinators, Orange Grove personnel, and all applicable stakeholders to ensure successful integrated, community work opportunities. The role involves coordinating transportation, troubleshooting employment barriers, and providing hands-on job coaching through direct training in various job settings. The Job Coach will also assist in developing positive relationships and educating employers and coworkers about the productive qualities of people with disabilities. Additionally, the position supports the Lead Employment Specialist/Supported Employment Coordinator in various services including Integrated Work Site Assessments, Vocational Adjustment Services, Job Readiness/Job Placement services, Supported Employment Job Coaching, Non-supported Employment Job Coaching services, and Supported Employment services. The role also involves assisting in implementing Pre-Employment services like Exploration and Job Placement, and various Enabling Technology programs. Attending local and regional trainings and conferences, completing necessary paperwork and reports for state and federal requirements, and assisting in meeting annual placement goals are also key aspects of the role. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • At least six (6) months of work experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Must meet one of the following criteria for Vocational Adjustment services, Job Readiness/Job Placement services, and Supported Employment Job Coaching:
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and written documentation of one (1) year of experience in delivering employment related services.
  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university or a high school diploma or High School equivalency (HiSet) or general equivalency diploma (GED) and written documentation of two (2) years of successful experience in delivering employment related services.
  • For Supported Employment (SE) services, a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred) from an accredited college or university and written verifiable documentation of one (1) year of successful work experience in delivering employment related services.
  • For Supported Employment (SE) services, an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and written verifiable documentation of two (2) years of successful work experience in delivering employment related services.
  • Must complete the Job Coach Curriculum in Relias and other training programs as required.
  • Must be capable of working within the guidelines of Tennessee Division of Rehabilitation Services, Tennessee Department of Aging and Disabilities and Orange Grove Center.
  • Comfortable with computer technology and competent with MS Office applications.
  • Good overall physical health and personal stamina.
  • Physical examination, including TB skin test or chest x-ray is required prior to employment.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • An “F” endorsement on a valid driver’s license.
  • Proof of ongoing vehicle insurance coverage is a must.
  • Flexible hours will be required to ensure successful job placements in the community.
  • Ability and availability to transport individuals is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful, demonstrated work experience within the Tennessee Division of Rehabilitation Services and the Tennessee Medicaid Waiver program is preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred for Supported Employment (SE) services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing positive relationships and provide a source of awareness to employers and coworkers on the productive and positive qualities of people with disabilities.
  • Assist the Lead Employment Specialist/Supported Employment Coordinator in completing Integrated Work Site Assessments, Vocational Adjustment Services, Job Readiness/Job Placement services, Supported Employment Job Coaching, Non-supported Employment Job Coaching services, and Supported Employment services.
  • Assist Lead Employment Specialist/Coordinator in implementing the Pre-Employment services of Exploration and Job Placement and implement various Enabling Technology programs as applicable.
  • Attend trainings and conferences, both local and regionally.
  • Complete the necessary paper work and reports to fulfill all Orange Grove, State and Federal requirements.
  • Assist the Lead Employment Specialist/Coordinator in meeting annual placement goals determined by Orange Grove Center.
