About The Position
LAUNCH is seeking a proactive employee to provide pre- and post-employment skill development and employment opportunities for individuals who have an intellectual/developmental disability. LAUNCH has been proudly serving the greater Onondaga County area for 40 years, offering individualized services that foster learning, independence, and growth. Their guiding principle is that learning is unique for each individual and occurs in all spheres of life. They serve and support anyone who seeks guidance in learning, including children, adults, families, parents, and caregivers from all backgrounds and learning styles.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Active listening and effective speaking
- Time management
- Critical thinking
- Basic technology/e-mail
- Reading comprehension
- Effective written and verbal expression
- Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and transportation necessary to meet program needs.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or Psychology
- Experience working with individuals with an intellectual/developmental disability
- OPWDD experience
Responsibilities
- Delivering person-centered services from a special education perspective
- Assessing and documenting participant’s skills, needs, and interests to determine appropriate supports
- Researching, developing, and creating competitive internships and employment opportunities
- Developing and maintaining relationships with local businesses, human resources groups, and employment networks
- Providing job coaching
