About The Position

Community Living Sarnia-Lambton is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Job Coach and job developer to support individuals with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining meaningful employment in the community through our JobPath Employment Program. Under the direction of the Employment Transitions Manager, the Job Coach /Job Developer supports individuals with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining meaningful, paid employment within the community. This position combines job development, employer engagement, job coaching, and workplace support to assist participants in achieving their employment goals. The Job Coach / Job Developer works collaboratively with participants, employers, families, support networks, and community partners to identify employment opportunities, provide workplace training, facilitate successful job matches, and promote long-term employment retention. The position supports Community Living Sarnia-Lambton's commitment to community inclusion, person-directed planning, and competitive integrated employment. The Job Coach plays an important role in connecting with local employers, helping participants develop workplace skills, build confidence, and achieve greater independence through competitive employment. This position involves job development, providing hands-on training, workplace support, and encouragement while fostering positive relationships with participants, employers, families, and community partners.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Business, Career Development, Education, Employment Services, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a variety of workplace environments
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Basic computer skills and experience with documentation and record keeping
  • Drivers license REQUIRED and the ability to travel throughout the community
  • Flexible availability based on participant and employer schedules

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in job development, employment services, workforce development, sales, recruitment, customer service, or community outreach considered an asset
  • Experience working with people with disabilities, employment services, job coaching, job development, local businesses, vocational training, business or human services is preferred
  • Knowledge of local businesses, employers, and community resources is an asset
  • Public speaking, job development, or employment counselling experience is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with disabilities as they search for, secure, and maintain competitive employment
  • Job development and networking with local employers, making cold calls and following up on employment opportunities
  • Provide on-site job coaching, training, and supervision in community workplaces
  • Assist participants in learning job tasks, workplace expectations, and appropriate social and communication skills
  • Model positive work habits, professionalism, and workplace etiquette
  • Encourage participant independence while providing individualized support based on their needs
  • Maintain regular communication with employers to ensure successful employment outcomes
  • Monitor participant progress and provide feedback to participants and program staff
  • Complete required documentation, records, and reports accurately and in a timely manner
  • Attend team meetings and maintain ongoing communication with supervisors
  • Promote safe work practices and respond appropriately to workplace incidents, illnesses, or injuries
  • Advocate for inclusive employment opportunities within the community
