About The Position

Responsible and caring individual needed to mentor and provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities at their job sites, and job development for individuals seeking employment in the Central Orange County area. The Employment Coach role involves supporting individuals with job development, including resume building and practice interviews, transportation to and from work, assistance with accessing their community, maintaining employment and productivity, discovering their interests and skills, and creating meaningful daily schedules. A primary goal is to build healthy relationships with the individuals served and help them build positive relationships with others.

  • Strong organization, communication and writing skills.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and online platforms as some services are provided remotely.

  • Commitment to integrated employment for all persons with disabilities.
  • Commitment to self-advocacy and person-centered planning.
  • Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of college or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
  • Job development and on-the-job support experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities preferably in community integrated settings (plus any additional experience).
  • Positive behavior support training experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out all directives from the Support Manager, Director of Services, Chief Executive Officer, and Board of Directors.
  • Ensures all persons served have their service and support needs met.
  • Provides mentorship to individuals, focusing on health, safety, and quality of life services.
  • Provides job development and on-the-job supports guided by PBIS and Instructional Support Strategies.
  • Assists individuals and their circle of support in securing competitive integrated jobs aligned with their skills and talents.
  • Gathers information during supports to contribute to meaningful and Individualized Support Plans (ISP).
  • Utilizes digital tools such as Zoom, online learning platforms, and online job searching.
  • Ensures strong and effective business relationships with employers and volunteer sites are maintained.
  • Understands and practices IRI’s mission and embraces person-centered values.
  • Demonstrates respectful and dignified interaction and communication with persons served, stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Assumes competence and builds esteem in all interactions.
  • Implements normalized community integrated employment focused service.
  • Develops integrated work schedules.
  • Finds integrated work settings and develops competitive employment placement.
  • Provides encouragement for meaningful employment related activities.
  • Conducts frequent job site analysis - pre, during and post-employment.
  • Implements adaptation strategies and devices based upon individual need.
  • Provides typical and specialized healthcare needs (medication, hygiene, toiletry, feeding) as needed.
  • Implements individual service plan goals and SMART objectives.
  • Monitors positive behavior strategy system and plans.
  • Conducts task analysis and demonstrates data-based training decisions.
  • Completes all required documents: eRSP daily care notes, clocking in/out, maintaining up to date employee personnel file, etc.
  • Attends and completes staff development training and trainings as assigned.
  • Communicates important updates regarding persons served to supervisor, circle of support, stakeholders, etc.
  • Dresses professionally and/or appropriately for tasks.
  • Demonstrates proper emergency strategies.
  • Contacts and reports emergencies to the Support Manager, as necessary.
  • Collaborates with individual served and supported, Lead Employment Coach, Support Manager, and circle of support to complete customized employment activities for job development.
  • Contacts prospective employers and facilitates job application for participants.
  • Shadows and trains other coaches with a specific individual supported.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Support Manager, Director of Services, and CEO.
