About The Position

Instruct JCAE ELL classes for adult learners to help learners achieve academic success, including preparing for the workforce. Provide leadership, oversight and support to all ELL instructors and students, including, but not limited to, student onboarding, testing, instruction, conflict resolution, curriculum and instruction, data collection.

Requirements

  • First-level leadership. Coordinates and leads daily team activities. May spend a portion of time performing the work of those they oversee.
  • Assists with management decisions and activities.
  • Working knowledge of team function within the organization.
  • Willingness to commute between JCAE locations.
  • Mileage reimbursement is available based on JCCC mileage rate.
  • Required 8 hours in-person supervision at one of JCAE's ELL locations, 4 hours flexible workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement new curricula to comply with funding requirements and continuously improve instruction and outcomes.
  • Train and mentor new ELL instructors and assist the ELL Program Coordinator with teacher observations and coaching.
  • Onboard, train, mentor, observe, develop, oversee, and coach employees and support the ELL Program Coordinator in observing/coaching instructors to improve their performance.
  • Teach at least one class per semester of adult learners in ELL, assisting learners to reach their language goals.
  • Evaluate learners’ entry-level Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE CLAS-E) scores and align with the program curriculum to place students in appropriate levels of learning.
  • Constantly monitor, analyze, enter, evaluate, and share data and learner documentation from tests and instructors to make informed decisions for the learner and/or share pertinent information with the ELL Program Coordinator to make decisions together.
  • Processing exiting/dismissed learners and communicating information to necessary parties in a timely manner.
  • Monitor program requirements and best practices and proactively evaluate, adapt, and refine the ELL curricula to address new regulatory requirements and expectations, learner needs, and best practices, ensuring that all curricula align with JCCC, state and national requirements.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of special projects, such as professional development, ELL instructor resource site monitoring and additions, JCAE marketing and fundraising campaigns, and curriculum-related specialty events and materials.
  • Assist the ELL Program Coordinator with the design and implementation of professional development opportunities for instructors.
