About The Position

Overall Objectives In alignment with Yinghua Academy’s mission, core values, and principles, the ELL Teacher provides high-quality English language development instruction to multilingual learners. This role supports students in developing academic English proficiency while ensuring meaningful access to grade-level content and promoting academic success across subject areas. Principal Roles & Responsibilities Academic Program Maintains a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment. Provides English Language Development instruction aligned to the Minnesota English Language Proficiency Standards. Designs and implements lessons using the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework. Collaborates with general education teachers to support language development within core content instruction. Differentiates instruction for students whose English proficiency ranges from beginner to advanced levels. Coordinates and administers ACCESS for ELLs testing and other required assessments. Conducts ongoing formal and informal assessments to monitor English language proficiency growth. Manages identification, placement, monitoring, and exiting of students in the ELL program in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Develops, implements, and evaluates research-based instructional strategies to promote high academic achievement for multilingual learners. Attends grade-level academic events as scheduled. Curriculum and Instruction Prepares and regularly submits curriculum pacing guides and lesson plans aligned with language proficiency standards. Uses data to inform instruction and adjust supports for students. Participates in all required professional development and compliance training. Classroom/Behavior Management Follows school-wide behavioral and safety guidelines and policies. Establishes and applies classroom expectations consistently and effectively. Seeks guidance and collaborates with administration and Q-Comp lead teachers to strengthen instructional and management practices. Program Compliance Maintains accurate student records and required documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations. Prepares progress reports and completes required evaluations within established timelines. Ensures compliance with Minnesota Department of Education requirements for multilingual learner programming. Attends all required safety and health training. Follows all school policies and procedures. Communication Actively participates in grade-level, subject-level, and staff meetings. Clearly communicates academic expectations and language learning goals to students. Maintains timely and professional communication with parents and guardians. Conducts parent-teacher conferences as scheduled. Responds promptly to school communications, emails, and phone calls. Demonstrates cultural competence and understanding of linguistic and cultural factors that may impact students and families. Professional Conduct Upholds professional and ethical standards in all interactions, maintaining confidentiality and respect in all matters, including student-related information and sensitive organizational topics. Models and encourages all behavior outlined by the Board-approved Professional Conduct Policy. Maintains confidentiality in all areas related to students. Demonstrates reliability and good judgment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Valid Minnesota license in English as a Second Language (ESL/ELL) appropriate to grade level, or ability to obtain appropriate MN licensure.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology as a language learning and instructional tool.
  • Must meet all employment requirements including, but not limited to, criminal background checks and reference checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of WIDA standards, ACCESS testing procedures, and Minnesota English Learner requirements preferred.
