About The Position

NCDIT Transportation is seeking a Mid-Level Java Technical Specialist to join the DMV Traffic Records Systems (TRS) team. The selected candidate will support the development, enhancement, maintenance, and production support of enterprise applications associated with the eCrash / NC-CRIS project. The TRS team supports the North Carolina DMV's crash data management and traffic safety functions, including the collection, analysis, and distribution of motor vehicle accident information. This position is ideal for a Java/J2EE developer with strong application maintenance and production support experience, particularly someone comfortable working with both modern and legacy enterprise Java technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Java/JEE, Oracle, and XML.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Web Services, JSP, Servlets, Spring, Struts, Eclipse IDE, and version control tools.
  • At least 3 years of experience with application analysis and design, testing, documentation, implementation, cost analysis, and resource/staffing estimation.
  • At least 3 years of experience providing technical helpdesk or application support.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard business applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Java/J2EE applications.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and translate customer requests into technical requirements and user stories.
  • Work closely with business owners, technical teams, and other stakeholders to deliver application enhancements.
  • Participate in application analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation.
  • Coordinate software release schedules with business and technical teams.
  • Provide production and second-level technical support for enterprise applications.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support as required.
  • Investigate application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Provide testing, documentation, and training support.
  • Assist with effort/cost analysis and estimation of staffing and technical resources.
  • Independently manage complex Java application development and maintenance activities.
  • Follow established development, testing, version control, and implementation processes.
