About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Java/Scala Engineering Manager with strong expertise in Kafka and distributed systems to lead the development of high-performance, enterprise-scale applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong hands-on technical background in Java, Scala, Kafka, and microservices, along with proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Scala.
• Strong expertise in Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with Spring Boot and Microservices.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and REST APIs.
• Proven people/team management or technical leadership experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience working in large enterprise environments.
• Candidates must be local to Jersey City, NJ.

Nice To Haves

• Financial services / banking experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Kubernetes/OpenShift experience.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• SQL/NoSQL database experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers.
• Design and develop scalable applications using Java, Scala, and Spring Boot.
• Architect and support Kafka-based event-driven systems.
• Lead development of enterprise microservices and distributed applications.
• Drive technical design, code quality, testing, and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and business teams.
• Participate in system design, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Manage project delivery, priorities, and technical initiatives.
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to engineers.
