About The Position

The Janitorial (store porter) position performs cleaning and maintenance duties in the store and provides friendly, courteous service to customers. Training is provided at the store level. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job. Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Internal candidates have additional eligibility requirements: Store/Facility Teammates should have at least six months of employment with Schnucks, and Store Support Center Teammates should have at least one year. Internal candidates must be in good standing, and interview candidates must have manager approval based on performance.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to bend and stoop.
• Must be able to handle cleaning chemicals.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which is 4–8 hours.
• Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Nice To Haves

• For internal Store/Facility Teammates: a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
• For internal Store Support Center Teammates: a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
• Maintain floors by scrubbing with appropriate pads and chemicals, stripping, polishing, and re-glossing.
• Operate scrub and buffing machines.
• Empty trash inside and outside the store.
• Clean windows.
• Clean break rooms, restrooms, and the manager’s office.
• Follow safety and sanitation procedures.
• Prepare linens for laundry pick-up.
• Change light bulbs.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
