About The Position

The Bakery Clerk provides friendly and courteous customer service, assists customers with product selections, and supports bakery operations. Duties include handling incoming bakery products, packaging and preparing baked goods, stocking and maintaining displays, ordering decorated cakes, and baking cookies. The clerk is expected to maintain a clean work area and equipment in accordance with company safety and sanitation procedures, attend work reliably, and perform other duties assigned by store management. Training is provided at the store level.

Applicants must be 18 years or older. Internal Schnucks candidates have additional preferred tenure and standing requirements.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older to apply.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which is 4–8 hours.
• Bending and stooping are physical demands of the role.
• For internal store or facility candidates, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
• For internal Store Support Center candidates, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
• Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
• Internal candidates invited to interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
• Assist customers with product selections, including suggestive selling.
• Process incoming products from the bakery plant and direct store delivery vendors.
• Package fresh-baked products.
• Slice and wrap fresh-baked bread.
• Stock product displays in cases and on shelves.
• Rotate product and straighten displays.
• Prepare outdated product for thrift stores.
• Order decorated cakes from the bakery plant.
• Bake cookies.
• Clean the work area and equipment in accordance with company safety and sanitation procedures.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
