About The Position

The Janitor, also described as a store porter, performs cleaning and maintenance tasks at the store and provides friendly, courteous service to customers. Training is provided at the store level. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

Requirements

• Regular, reliable attendance.
• Ability to bend and stoop.
• Ability to handle cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work on one’s feet for the entire shift, which lasts 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

• For internal store/facility teammates: at least six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
• For internal Store Support Center teammates: at least one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
• Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline; interview invitations require manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
• Maintain floors by scrubbing with appropriate pads and chemicals, stripping, polishing, and re-glossing.
• Operate scrub and buffing machines.
• Empty trash inside and outside the store.
• Clean windows, break rooms, restrooms, and the manager’s office.
• Follow safety and sanitation procedures.
• Prepare linens for laundry pick-up.
• Change light bulbs.
• Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
