About The Position

Keep buildings clean and orderly by performing heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, hallways, and stairs; shampooing rugs; and washing walls and glass. The role may also include tending furnaces and boilers, performing routine maintenance, reporting repair needs, and clearing snow or debris from sidewalks. The position works under immediate supervision and relies on instructions and established guidelines.

Requirements

Plan work and select proper tools.
Compare and identify differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
May require a high school diploma or equivalent.
Previous years of experience in the field or a related area may be required.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines.

Responsibilities

Monitor building security and safety, including locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use for hazards.
Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
Gather and empty trash.
Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Mix water and detergents or acids to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
Notify managers when major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed.
Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance.
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners and tools.
Observe and comply with safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Perform other duties as required.
