A Janitor is responsible for keeping the workplace clean, organized, and disinfected. The role involves cleaning building interiors and maintaining common areas, restrooms, furnishings, and supplies. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to close doors at the end of the night shift.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Clean building interiors, including floors, carpets, rugs, windows, and walls.
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop offices, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, elevators, stairs, locker rooms, and other work areas.
• Remove stains from chairs and upholstered furniture.
• Dust furniture, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and moldings.
• Empty and clean trash cans and ashtrays.
• Disinfect commonly used items such as desks, door handles, office tools, and phones.
• Clean and maintain restrooms and replenish supplies there and in other required areas.
• Wash and clean windows and mirrors.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and take them to the disposal area.
• Clean trash and snow from sidewalks when necessary.
• Maintain cleaning-supply inventory and request missing materials from supervisors when applicable.
• Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions or conditions requiring maintenance.
• Maintain a cleaning chart indicating areas cleaned and inspected.
• Follow safety and precaution rules.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Close doors at the end of the night shift.
