About The Position

The Janitor maintains cleanliness and hygiene across airport facilities, including terminals, restrooms, offices, and public areas. The role includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, waste disposal, and responding promptly to spills or other cleaning emergencies. The Janitor uses cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations, keeps cleaning supplies stocked and maintained, and reports maintenance issues or needed repairs. The role also requires exemplifying PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards and performing additional duties as assigned by management. This position is based at RIC Airport. Because airline operations run 24/7, team members must be flexible to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The work may involve indoor and outdoor environments, prolonged standing and walking, exposure to noise, biohazards, and chemicals, and physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and crouching.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Must communicate effectively in English in reading, writing, and speaking.
Basic ability sufficient to follow safety protocols and cleaning instructions.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment.
Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including using iPads/tablets, computers, and mobile devices.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients in person and electronically.
Eligibility to acquire required credentials and clearances, as applicable, including FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal credentials.
Must be flexible to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
Ability to perform the physical activities and meet the working conditions described, including prolonged standing and walking, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, crawling, crouching, bending, stretching, squatting, and kneeling.
Ability to hear and respond to spoken voices and audible alarms.
Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Prior experience in janitorial or cleaning services is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform general cleaning duties in airport terminals, restrooms, offices, and other areas.
Operate cleaning machinery, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners.
Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in designated areas.
Clean and sanitize restrooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies.
Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and windows.
Sweep, mop, and maintain floors, walkways, and stairways.
Respond promptly to cleaning emergencies and spills.
Replenish cleaning and toiletry supplies in bathrooms and other facilities.
Follow safety and health regulations related to cleaning and chemical use.
Report maintenance issues or repairs needed.
Exemplify PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
