About The Position

The Janitor keeps the premises of buildings in clean and orderly condition. This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks, maintenance duties, and general labor tasks within the facility.

Requirements

Less than high school education
Up to one month related experience or training
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables

Responsibilities

Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
Dusts furniture and equipment.
Polishes metalwork.
Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
Empties wastebaskets, and empties and cleans ashtrays.
Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
Replenishes bathroom supplies.
Replaces light bulbs.
Cuts and trims grass, and shovels snow if required in contract for site.
May delivers messages.
Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
May set up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall.
