About The Position

The Janitor assists operations by handling daily housekeeping, minor repairs, and maintenance of company facilities and grounds. The role keeps indoor and outdoor areas clean, orderly, safe, and presentable, and supports the setup and removal of furnishings and decorations for events. The Janitor also monitors facility security and safety, completes assigned training, follows company policies and safety standards, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1–3 years of commercial housekeeping and building maintenance experience required.
Excellent time-management skills and ability to work independently.
Knowledge and experience using various hand tools.
Good work ethic and attitude, and reliability.
Solid basic math skills.
Ability to read and understand written and verbal English instructions and to read, comprehend, and comply with company policies and procedures, including safety and security requirements.
Understanding of and commitment to a safe work environment.
Reliable transportation required.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Keep the interior and exterior of buildings clean and orderly.
Perform heavy cleaning, including vacuuming floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, dusting furniture, walls, machines, and equipment, and cleaning and supplying restrooms.
Clear and remove rubbish; gather and empty trash; separate recyclables and place them in the correct collection bins.
Notify management or designated personnel when major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed, and order housekeeping supplies and materials.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on light fixtures and bulbs.
Inspect and address minor issues with plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and other building systems, such as fixing leaky faucets, repairing outlets and switches, and replacing air-conditioning filters.
Maintain grounds by mowing grass and trimming shrubbery with mowers and hand power trimmers.
Clear snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels.
Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events such as banquets and meetings.
Perform periodic insect and rodent control.
Understand cleaning chemicals and how they work when combined.
Monitor building security and safety, including locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use for hazards.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
Use hand tools and related tools to complete housekeeping and maintenance tasks; inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and expectations and demonstrate progress in skill level.
Perform other duties as assigned, comply with company policies and standards, adhere to workplace safety commitments, and complete assigned training.
