About The Position

The Janitor, Retail maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming Goodwill of Colorado retail store or outlet, ensuring areas meet the organization’s hygiene and presentation standards. The role performs assigned janitorial duties and provides courteous customer service. This is a temporary, part-time position.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand directions for using and properly disposing of cleaning solutions.
• Ability to follow Goodwill and OSHA safety protocols for chemical use and waste disposal.
• Ability to stay on track and complete duties in a timely manner.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Ability to work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of previous custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, employee break areas, and public areas.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning tools and products.
• Sweep and mop floors to remove slip, trip, and fall hazards.
• As needed, vacuum or steam-clean carpets and rugs, dust furniture, polish fixtures, and remove marks or stains from walls and other surfaces.
• Clean and dust store fixtures as required.
• As needed, apply floor wax or sealant and buff, strip, or top-scrub floors.
• Remove trash from offices, restrooms, and other areas in and around the store.
• Follow Goodwill and OSHA safety protocols for chemical use and waste disposal, including mixing cleaning agents according to standards when required.
• Move large or heavy furniture when necessary to clean surrounding areas.
• As needed, shovel snow or ice from sidewalks and apply salt to reduce slip, trip, and fall hazards.
• Collaborate with the team and direct customers to the appropriate department or team member when needed.
• Report missing or damaged items and maintenance needs promptly.
• Follow Goodwill policies, procedures, and the employee handbook; contribute to a safe environment for employees and customers.
• Escalate issues or concerns to store management in a timely manner.
• Perform additional duties or responsibilities as required.
