About The Position
The City of Pharr is hiring a full-time, onsite Jailer to supervise inmates and help maintain a safe, orderly facility. This general-duty position involves work of average difficulty and varied responsibilities during assigned shifts, including monitoring inmate behavior, maintaining security protocols, and supporting rehabilitation efforts. The Jailer is expected to uphold professionalism and provide customer-centric service while contributing to the safety and well-being of the community.
Requirements
- Considerable knowledge of approved practices and procedures within the workspace and facility.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to understand and execute moderately complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to interact courteously yet firmly with the public.
- Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Good judgment and sound decision-making ability.
- Interpersonal and critical-thinking skills.
- Must pass a thorough criminal background check.
