Rusk County is seeking applicants for a dispatcher/jailer position. The Dispatcher is responsible for central dispatching of all emergency services (police, fire, ambulance, human services) for the county and surrounding areas. This role requires functioning in high-stress situations, following procedures, operating computer and radio equipment, and maintaining records. The Dispatcher needs knowledge of medical, fire, and law enforcement practices to guide citizens through emergencies. The Jailer maintains the safe and secure operations of the Rusk County jail, including the custody and correctional treatment of inmates. This involves knowledge of booking procedures, segregation requirements, facility security, inmate health and welfare, and promoting good public relations. Additional duties may include program facilitation, activities coordination, and electronic monitoring for Huber and in-home detention. The jailer also enforces laws and prevents crimes.
